The Derive emerges out of the encounter between the art project The Molecular Ballet, encountering designers Emma Staubo and Jomi Evers. Staubo's notion of Boundary Beings explores the climate that arises in the zones where nature meets the digital world.
The shape of the Derive shows inspiration both from sound waves and from elements to be found in the forest, such as pine cones and mushrooms.
The Derive was shown for the first time as a functional prototype in the Norwegian Presence exhibition on Milan Design Week in April 2018 - connected via WIFI to a listening station placed in one of the old forests in Vestfold, Norway.

During Designers Saturday and Oslo Art Weekend in September Elementa 2017 had the pleasure to host Swedish artist Roberto Peyre - and follow his Lövaman for an adventure in the streets and galleries of Oslo.
The Lövaman - for the occasion a patron saint of the Elemernta UT series of art and design objects interfacing nature, has been spotted all over the world the latest years, more often than not dressed in shivering green aspen leaves. The present appearence arose from the beautiful autumnal heather fields from highlands just outside the city centre of Oslo.
